What Professionals Know, That Most Amateurs Do Not
When it comes to the game of golf, many amateurs find themselves extremely frustrating. They do not boost their confidence any by watching professionals hit everything seemingly perfect. The good news is that professional golfers are not extremely built-up; they just have really good technique. This means that people who want to hit the golf ball further and straighter simply need to work on their form. Obviously, professional golfers generate substantially higher clubhead speeds that most amateurs, but it would not do them any good if they were unable to properly hit the ball.
Most people are capable of swinging a golf club close to professional speeds; however, professionals are actually only swinging to about 80 or 90 percent of their potential. If they swung as hard as possible, it would be extremely difficult for them to strike the ball solid. Most amateurs tend to go on the golf course and consistently swing with all of their power. This will cause the body to become very tense, which can cause a number of issues. The first issue is that a tight body will actually slow down the clubhead speed. When people get really aggressive in their swing, they will notice that their hands and back become extremely tight. When people watch a professional baseball player, they do not see them gripping the bat as hard as possible, while grinding their teeth and neither do professional golfers. The other issue with tensing up during the swing is that it can cause the golfer to lose their posture. When a golfer comes out of their setup position, it can cause them to not make solid contact with the ball.
The only thing professionals know that most amateurs do not is how to properly hit the golf ball. They understand that the golf ball should be struck on a descending blow with irons, and a slightly ascending blow with the driver. This allows them to boost their yardages.
