How One Wrong Movement Can Ruin The Day
When amateur golfers take to the course after a day at work, a few warmups and some stretching can help prevent injuries.
Golf is a low-impact sport with none of the collisions of contact sports, but players face a high risk of muscle pulls and repetitive motion injuries at the beginning of a round when their muscles are tight from the work week.
When a player is ready to begin a round, they should always take the time to stretch their arms and back. For example, a golfer can hold their arms away from their body and twist at the waist. The lateral movement helps prepare their back for the sudden rotational force of swinging a club.
Players should also try to touch their toes, stretch their arms as high as they are able, and reach across their body with each arm. Special attention should be paid to the muscles around the shoulder and hand.
Because most amateur players do not perform any actions that are similar to a golf swing during their daily life, stretching and warmups are necessary to loosen up the muscles.
