How To Properly Strike A Golf Ball
When it comes to golf, there is actually a specific way for the player to strike the ball. However, the proper ball striking technique is not something that requires a ton of experience. In fact, having a good setup and posture will almost guarantee the player a chance to properly strike the golf ball.
When players are hitting a shot with irons or even fairway woods they will want to hit the ball with a descending blow. This is commonly referred to as “hitting down on the ball.” This does not mean to turn the golf club into an ax, by actually slamming down into the ball. All it means is that the iron, or fairway wood, needs to hit the ball before the ground. When people watch professional golfers, they will notice that they take a divot after the ball is struck. Hitting down on the ball seems like a hard concept, but it is actually fairly simple with minimal instruction.
When people use the driver, they will actually want to hit the ball with a slightly ascending blow. They should swing the driver like their irons, with the intent to hit down, but the club will actually be travelling upwards by the time it reaches the ball in a further forward position.
